Fallopian Tube Recanalization
Fallopian tube recanalization – also commonly referred to as Selective Salpingography – is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure used primarily to reopen obstructions in one or both of the fallopian tubes. This low-risk procedure is typically recommended as the first intervention for patients with a blockage of the proximal fallopian tubes. (Hysterosalpingography with Selective Salpingography, Journal of Reproductive Medicine 2009 March 24(3):126-132) Fallopian tube recanalization is also useful in demonstrating tubal patency, reducing the diagnosis of tubal disease, and potentially minimizing surgery in infertile patients.
We are the only center in New York City that performs fallopian tube recanalization at the time of hysterosalpingography (HSG), thereby reducing repeat radiation doses and patient inconvenience. Dr. Silberzweig has also completed major research with multiple publications on minimizing radiation exposure and improving patient comfort, ensuring that your treatments will be safe and effective with minimal discomfort.
