Spider Veins (Telangiectasia)
Spider veins or telangiectasia are enlarged capillaries that manifest as small red, blue or purple lines on the skin that can sometimes become raised from the surface. This condition is often hereditary. Hormonal factors such as puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and use of birth control pills can also affect its development. Additional contributing factors include age, leg injury, obesity, lack of exercise, weight fluctuations, and prolonged sitting or standing. Fortunately, spider veins or telangiectasia is mostly an aesthetically unattractive condition with symptomatology being generally rare.
At Cosmetic and Vascular Suite NYC, patients are offered a variety of treatment options for broken capillaries in the leg or face. Patient safety and optimal results are ensured by Dr. James Silberzweig, a board certified physician and interventional radiologist who performs all our procedures in a relaxed and professional environment.
